Glass wool in a clear PE bag · for drywall and ceiling cavities

Thickness
50 mm

What is it?

ISO NOISE Standard is a 0.60 × 1.20 m, 50 mm glass-wool batt in a clear PE bag. It fills the stud cavity of a drywall partition or the gap in a double masonry wall, which is then closed with solid boards or masonry such as gypsum, fibre cement or brick. The batt damps sound inside the cavity; the sound insulation achieved depends on the whole wall system, not on the batt alone.

What is it made of?

Glass wool (fibreglass) · Facing: Fully enclosed in a clear PE bag (installed in the bag) · Board

Limitations to know

It only helps when enclosed in a wall or ceiling cavity closed with solid boards on both sides. Gluing batts onto an existing wall does not block sound, and sound-insulation ratings (STC/Rw) belong to a tested wall system, not to the batt.
