What is it?
ASK CS 220 is calcium silicate insulation formed under high temperature and pressure with inorganic fibre reinforcement, free of asbestos. It comes in two types by maximum service temperature — Type I (650 °C) and Type II (1,000 °C) — as slabs, curved segments and pipe sections. It is much stiffer in compression than fibrous insulation, suiting places with load or impact, and can back refractory brick.

Limitations to know
It is rigid and more brittle than fibrous insulation. Choose Type I or II for the service temperature, design the thickness for the job conditions, and have industrial-insulation specialists install it.
