What is it?

M-Board is a mineral-fibre sound-absorbing board, 300 × 600 mm and 12 mm thick, used to control echo inside rooms and buildings. It is glued onto an existing flat surface such as a smooth plasterboard ceiling or a wall, so it suits rooms that already have a flat ceiling and need more absorbing area. One box holds 18 boards and covers 3.24 m².

Limitations to know

Absorbing boards reduce echo inside the room but do not stop sound passing through walls to the next room. Do not paint over the face: in our measurement a painted board absorbed less (NRC about 0.39). Fix only onto dry surfaces without leaks or high humidity, which can stain the boards.

Applications

Highlights

  • Fits onto an existing smooth ceiling or wall — no ceiling removal
  • NRC 0.53 measured by Get Best Sound (unpainted board)
  • 18 boards per box, covers 3.24 m²
  • Our engineers can calculate how many boards a room needs

Installation overview

  1. Clean dust off the surface and check it has no leaks or high humidity
  2. Check flatness: do not fix onto surfaces with level differences over 3 mm; strip oil-based paint first
  3. Walls: apply water-based construction adhesive in about 8–15 dots across the back, then press onto the wall
  4. Smooth plasterboard ceilings: apply latex glue in about 9–12 dots across the back, fix to the ceiling and secure with a nail gun
  5. Lay in a staggered (brick) pattern, starting from the middle of the ceiling and working outwards

Always follow the manufacturer's installation and safety instructions.
